NALIP announces the departure of Kathryn F. Galán. After 10 1/2 years at NALIP, Kathryn has decided to resign as Executive Director to finish her Master's Degree and pursue new opportunities.
Bienvenida (Beni) Matas will act as Interim Executive Director until a permanent replacement is found. Beni has a long history with NALIP and its mission, as a founding Board member and the organization's first coordinator.
The Board of Directors and staff will continue with its mission to further Latino content creators with upcoming conference Diverse Voices, Universal Content (April 13-15 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel, Universal City, CA) and NALIP's other excellent programs. We look forward to your continued support.
Call for Entries: Guanajuato International Film Festival
The primary objective of the Guanajuato International Film Festival is to provide more opportunities for the exhibition and appreciation of films, rewarding their quality so as to allow the artists to continue producing film. At the same time, we hope to bring together newcomers alongside the industry's most seasoned professionals, combining forces in a very open, accessible and competitive environment.
The XV edition of the festival will be celebrated from July 20-29, 2012, in the cities of Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende, Gto., México.
Recipients of the festival's prizes in the categories of Short Fiction and Short Animation will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the Annual Academy Awards provided the film complies with the Academy rules.
Submission Deadline: May 1, 2012

Call for Entries: Rose Marine Latino Film Festival
The Rose Marine Latino Film Festival - to be held February 24-26, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas - is accepting films. The festival consists of three days of independent Latino films, awards, artist talks, networking events and an educational outreach collaborative at the historical Rose Marine Theater.
Films cannot exceed 20 minutes in length and can be either narrative or documentary. Out of the films entered, two will be featured during the festival, one for each of the following categories:
- RMLFF Shorts - Audience Award winner
- Student Lone Star Award - Honors a Texas student filmmaker attending college or university
Submission Deadline: February 10, 2012 (postmarked)

Demián Bichir Leads List of Six Latino Oscar Nominees

NALIPster releases bodybuilding doc
Director, producer and NALIP member Patrick Rivera has ventured into the history of professional bodybuilding and how it has evolved over the last 50 years with the documentary Evolution of Bodybuilding. The film's DVD and Blu-Ray release date is scheduled for January 31, 2012 and a VIP Premier at the Regal 14 Theatre at L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles on January 29, 2012.
Interviews for the film were shot on location from coast to coast and overseas for this film. Trick Entertainment and Shawn Ray Productions sat one on one with nine of the thirteen Mr. Olympia winners, several IFBB Hall of Fame Bodybuilders and several industry leaders including: "The Father of Bodybuilding," Joe Weider; first Mr. Olympia, Larry Scott; and current Mr. Olympia, Phil Heath.
